Why Should You Go To A Family Dentist?
Why Should You Go To A Family Dentist?
A family dentist is a dentist that sees all ages of patients. At Altman Dental, we’re a true family dental practice. We see start seeing our patients when they’re around 2, and stay with them all the way through 102 and older 🙂 ! However, don’t worry, Dr. Altman won’t still be practicing at 102!
We encourage our families to bring their children in as soon as they can handle sitting in a chair. We give the kids a ride on the dental chair, to make the experience fun and entertaining. We will start to do dental hygiene cleanings on the kids once they have their teeth, around the age of 2-3, in brief visits.
A family dentist, grows with you and your family. Creating a lasting relationship is important in our office, so that we build trust and continuity of care. We laugh with our patients, we cry with them, and we celebrate with them. We go through your life stages with you and share in your joy, as well as times of hardship. Â We want to foster an environment where our patients feel at home, comfortable to be able to discuss any concern or question they may have.
What’s different about the care I will receive at a Family Dentist?
We are a full-service dental office. That means, we can provide any dental procedure you and your family will need. All ages should have routine dental hygiene checkups and cancer screenings every 6 months. After the age of 18, we will chart your gum health each year. This is to insure healthy gums and decrease the incidence of bone loss and periodontal disease. Â If we notice that you have a cavity, we can treat that in our office, as well as dental extractions like wisdom teeth removal, and any infections that should arise. Â There are times we refer out to other specialists if we feel that your care warrants it, and we have great relationships with those specialists. Â We wouldn’t put you in the care of anyone we wouldn’t send our own family to. Â As you age, your focus may shift to more cosmetic procedures. We do teeth whitening, dental implants, crowns, bridges, and bonding to help you maintain a smile you’re proud to show off.
From Dr. Frank Altman: Your Dental Health
We take pride in the work we do, and the health care we provide. We want our patients to understand the connection between their dental health and other health concerns such as heart disease, cancer, and diabetes. It’s important to me to insure that you receive a cancer screening twice a year when you come for a hygiene check. I feel that we are on the front lines to detecting early signs of disease, and with continuity of care, we can stop problems before they progress.  We take time with our patients, and are always available for private consultations and discussions on care. Never feel that you can’t ask us a question.
Family dentistry is why I got involved in dentistry. My passion for people’s health, and general love for conversation, are two traits that help me put patients at ease. I have been fortunate to have staffed my office with people who care as deeply as I do about our patients.  I am so fortunate to have you as part of my family and thank you for your trust in us.
